Student Age Range: 11-14 Years
General Developmental/Instructional Level:
- General intellectual functioning within low average to average range
- Instructional levels: Grades 3-8
Specific Needs, Disabilities, Treatments & Programming Methods:
- Specific attentional, academic, adjustment, emotional, and conduct disorders
- Moderate-to-severe behavioral challenges
- Content-based curriculum aligned with middle school frameworks (ELA, Mathematics, Social Studies & Science/Technology); therapeutic milieu with clinical support services; class sizes 4-8 students with high staff ratios.
- Individualized reintegration into local middle schools as goal; immediate stabilization and transition to alternative settings possible.
- Comprehensive array of specialized clinical interventions including: FBAs; individualized and group counseling; case management of family issues & involved collaterals (e.g., DSS, DMH, etc.).
Entrance Criteria:
- Public school alternative program for middle school students with behavioral, psychiatric, and specific learning challenges.
- Individualized educational needs can be met, and behavior managed, in classroom and community setting with varied class sizes.
Exit Criteria:
- Appropriate progress in academic and behavioral performances for participation in a less-restrictive program.
- Transfer to local High School Program or other alternative setting at Gr. 9.

Student Age Range: 14-22 Years
General Developmental/Instructional Level:
- General intellectual functioning in the mild impairment to average range.
- Instructional levels: Grades 3-12
Specific Needs, Disabilities, Treatments & Programming Methods:
- Specific learning challenges with emotional, attentional, adjustment, and conduct issues.
- Content based curriculum aligned with MA frameworks; career & vocational content cluster areas; therapeutic milieu with clinical support services; class sizes 4-8; taught in classrooms, vocational shop areas, and community based settings.
- Individualized reintegration into local high school and/or community job/internship as goal; immediate stabilization and transition to in-house or alternative vocational setting possible.
- Comprehensive array of specialized clinical interventions including: FBAs; individualized and group counseling; case management of family issues & involved collaterals (e.g., DSS, DMH, etc.).
Entrance Criteria:
- Students requiring specialized instructional supports and a curricular interest/priority for community-based, pre-vocational, vocational or career training experience.
- Needs can be met, and behavior managed, in varied vocational, job or career internship setting with individualized to group support.
Exit Criteria:
- Appropriate progress in academic, behavioral and vocational performances in classroom, shop or community-based career settings.
- Student demonstrates requirements for a high school diploma, a community-based job, or to transition to a community voc-tech high school or institute.

9(c). MASSAPOAG HIGH SCHOOL

Student Age Range: 14-22 Years
General Developmental/Instructional Level:
- General intellectual functioning within low average to average range.
- Instructional levels: Grades 9-12 (Accommodates as low as 6th).
Specific Needs, Disabilities, Treatments & Programming Methods:
- Curriculum based on MA frameworks for academic content areas; quarterly electives; therapeutic milieu with clinical support services; class sizes 4-8 student with high staff to student ratios.
- Specific instructional, emotional, attentional, behavioral, and adjustment challenges.
- Individualized instructional supports to meet the local graduation requirements for the student’s sending school district.
- Comprehensive array of specialized clinical interventions including: FBAs; individualized and group counseling; case management of family issues & involved collaterals (e.g., DSS, DMH, etc.).
- Extensive team athletic and physical education opportunities.
Entrance Criteria:
- Public school alternative program for high school students with behavioral, psychiatric, and specific learning challenges.
- Individualized educational needs and graduation requirements can be met, and behavior managed, in classroom and community based settings.
Exit Criteria:
- Appropriate progress in academic and behavioral performances for participation in a less-restrictive program.
- Transfer to local high school or other alternate setting
- Qualifications for a high school diploma from the student’s sending district
