    General Developmental/Instructional Level

  • General functioning in the range of PreKindergarten to Grade 2
  • Specific conditions and requirements, including:
    • Pervasive developmental disorders
    • Cognitive impairment
    • Communication, language and learning disorders

    Entrance Criteria

  • Collaborative/public school program for primary/elementary-age children with low-incidence special education needs
  • Needs can be met with staff: student programming ratios of 1:2 to 1:3 with individualized inclusion in mainstream classes
  • Needs can be met, and behavior managed, in mainstream setting with programming ratio of 1:3

    Specific Needs, Disabilities, Interventions & Programming Methods

  • Atypical development, autism, or other pervasive developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders
  • Developmental communication disorders, including mildly atypical development, with related difficulties with motor systems, attentional controls, and language development
  • Specially designed tailored instruction in all developmental domains
  • Individualized services include intensive work with communication skills, sensory-motor integration therapy, guided social learning, and adaptive gross motor groups

    Exit Criteria

  • Readiness to acquire skills in a next-level program of lower intensity
  • Adequate social interaction skills for less-restrictive environment
  • Able to participate and acquire skills in lower-structure environment
