  • Skills in the ranges of pre-academic to functional academic
  • Intensive developmental disabilities
  • Secondary behavioral handicaps

    Entrance Criteria

  • Continuation of public school placement for pre-adolescent and adolescent youth with severe and profound developmental disabilities and related functional handicaps
  • Needs in the domains of behavior, communication, self-care, activities of daily living and pre-vocational training, which can be met with 1:2 programming ratio; or, for profound disabilities, physical and medical needs that can be met with intensive in-school services

    Specific Needs, Disabilities, Interventions & Programming Methods

  • Mental retardation
  • Autism
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Visual impairment
  • Seizure disorder
  • Hearing impairment
  • Other central nervous system disorders
  • Related disturbances of behavior and social relationships
  • Programming staff: student ratio of 1:2 to meet developmental, behavioral, and communication goals; for profound disabilities, intensive services in allied health fields to meet developmental, functional, and health goals

    Exit Criteria

  • General developmental functioning consistent with less-restrictive programming
  • Ability to acquire skills in lower-structure environment (e.g., elimination of interfering behavior; alleviation of communication disorder)
  • Transition to adult program at age 22
